MED-INNOVATE has been created to help support the initial phase of the 'origin founder innovator'. That person who has identified a problem and doesn't know who to speak to or what to do next. I'm extremely passionate about this topic as I was that person, and am keen to share the knowledge that I gained in very early phase of the LEAFix project.  It's my hope that MED-INNOVATE can offer inspiration & guidance to those needing some help to begin developing their own ideas.

​In 2003 I witnessed a patient's endo-tracheal tube being secured with generic, multi-patient use hospital tape, the LEAFix project was born.  I was genuinely surprised & shocked by this non-standardised practice and instantly knew there must be a more rational & ethical method of securing a patient's airway device.  

​

I sat with that insight for over 10 years not knowing who to speak to or where to begin. How did I spot this problem, what did I do next? What was the trigger to kick start the solution process, why & how did I choose to bring a colleague onto the project and who did we approach for support in those very early days? 

 

​​This not yet told story is the first chapter of the LEAFix journey, the 10 year long prologue prior to inviting a colleague onto the project to co-invent the solution: LEAFix.
