Hello
My name is Matt.
I’m the founder of MED-INNOVATE and Project Founder and co-inventor of the airway securement device, LEAFix.
I'm also a practising NHS Anaesthesia Associate, with over 20 years’ experience spanning both the finance industry and the operating theatre environment. This combined background has shaped my approach to problem-solving and innovation within healthcare.
MED-INNOVATE has been created to showcase the earliest and most important phase of any innovation journey: identifying the problem and figuring out what to do next. To read why & how I created the LEAFix concept please click this link.
Through this platform, I share my experience as a concept founder, including the origin development of the LEAFix concept link and the lessons learned during the early stages of bringing an idea to life.
For more information on the LEAFix single-use airway securement device, please see the video below and follow the link provided link.

Support & barriers to beginning
Many Origin Innovators never get out of the blocks with their ideas. It's an explosion at the start, I remember it well, that wonderful sudden burst of excitement, tangled with a logical thread of total uncertainty. That initial burst of excitement is absolutely wonderful, and goes on, that's my experience anyway and morphs into hope for future success.
However prior to pulling the pin and deciding to make a go of my idea, I sat on the problem that would eventually become LEAFix for 11 years for numerous reasons. I know exactly what it feels like to be stuck in no-mans land with an idea that you are certain could be developed into a solution, having been there for over 10 years. I want to share what I've learned the hard way to hopefully help you push on and navigate your way forwards with your own ideas.
